Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco, is a singer-songwriter and Canadian American. She is the author of more than twenty albums. DiFranco's music is classified as folk and alternative rock. But, they contain influences from jazz hip-hop punk and Funk. Ani DiFranco, widely regarded as an icon of women's rights, and Grammy-winning artist is considered to be the father in DIY music. She was among the pioneers to create their own labels in the year 1990. DiFranco was born in Buffalo New York on September 23 1970 the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross) and Dante Americo DiFranco The couple had met while attending the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father was Italian heritage and her mother was originally from Montreal. Ani diFranco composed and performed the song 32 Flavors. The track comes from her album from 1995 Not a Pretty Girl, which was her sixth studio album. The track is on the film's soundtrack the Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate from 1999. In 2013 DiFranco apologized after it was revealed that she planned to host an event for three days on a former Louisiana slavery plantation. Although she cancelled the workshop the majority of attendees (including our paper) were not able to feel guilt. DiFranco released a second apology two days after her first apology. While she's best known as Little Folksinger her music includes a wide range of genres. Her collaborators include Pete Seeger and Chuck D to Prince. The singer hails from New Orleans. Ani DiFranco is married to Kristen Ford. When she was 14, she started writing her own songs. As a teenager she was performing the songs in bars and cafes. DiFranco started taking classes in Buffalo State College at age 16 following her graduation from the Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts.
